Solutions, emulsions, suspensions and slurries are nebulized into fine droplets in a hot air stream. During their downward passage through the drying chamber, water content is fully evaporated, yielding powdered or granular end products.

Hot air is introduced at the top of the drying tower, and liquid raw materials are conveyed to the tower top via screw pumps or peristaltic pumps. The feed liquid is nebulized into fine droplets by an atomizer. These droplets come into contact with high-temperature hot air, resulting in instantaneous moisture evaporation. The material is dried into finished products in a matter of seconds, which are then discharged from the tower bottom or cyclone separator in line with the equipment layout.

A complete selection of fine powder separation and recovery equipment is offered, covering conventional and combined cyclone separators, bag filters, as well as combined units of cyclone & bag filter, cyclone & wet scrubber, and bag filter & wet scrubber. Equipment selection is tailored to product properties and customer specifications.

To meet diverse production demands, the spray dryer can be integrated with peripheral systems, such as secondary drying and cooling systems (including ZLG vibrating fluidized beds and pneumatic conveying systems), batching systems, powder screening systems and dehumidifiers.
